EHR P.A and British Embassy in Baku held a roundtable entitled "Administrative Proceeding: Practice and Perspectives"

The British Embassy in Baku, Education on Human Rights Public Association and Law and Development PA co-hosted roundtable discussions on challenges of administrative proceeding, "Administrative Proceeding: Practice and Perspectives".
In the event, the monitoring report prepared by Education on Human Rights PA within the project of "Promoting Administrative Courts through Monitoring and Evaluation" was presented. The participants discused the legal and practical aspects of administrative proceeding in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The meeting was attended by Mr Peter Batman, British Embassador, Natasha Rasic, Legal Affairs Officer from the OSCE office in Baku, Tomas Melzer, expert in GIZ, Sabira Shixaliyeva from USAID, representatives of civil society, lawyers and media.
Chairwoman of Education on Human Rights Public Association Irada Javadova made a speech on practical aspects of administrative proceedings. Talking on challenges faced in practice, she touched upon such issues as the need for separation of administrative and economic courts, noncompliance of the activitiy of the administrative bodies with the Law on Administrative Proceeding, court investigation period, as well as challenges related with payment of state fee.
Chair of the "Law and Development" PA Hafiz Hasanov in his speech, stressed the gaps and imperfections of the legislation on administrative proceeding.
In the end of the event participants took a decision to send recommendations on improving of the administrative proceeding to the appropriate state authorities.
